The Arts Foundation of New Zealand The Arts Foundation established a new award this year in association with Ann Mallinson of Mallinson Rendel Publishers, to honour a children’s book illustrator. The inaugural award went to the very clever David Elliot. The Arts Foundation commissioned me to design the award, which was again beautifully letterpress printed by Shona Gow of Magpie Press.

Once more down to the beach… The Designers Institute of New Zealand commissioned this piece of work to be used as a pull-out poster in ProDesign magazine, heralding the impending summer holidays. I can’t remember who first used this joke in my earshot, but it was probably my uncle, who is an English teacher & who also said to me one Easter: ‘Shall I compare thee to a currant bun?’
